Do I need travel insurance on a motorcycle touring holiday?

Like all trips or holidays, although not a legal requirement, travel insurance is a good idea in case the unexpected were to happen that could leave you out of pocket without adequate travel insurance. What you will need to be aware of is that not all travel insurance policies will cover you whilst riding a motorcycle. So, make sure you buy travel insurance that covers riding a motorcycle.

Am I covered whilst riding a motorcycle?

Yes, you are covered whilst riding a motorcycle providing that any claim that arises as a result of you riding your motorcycle is within the terms, conditions and exclusions of Motorcycle Voyager Travel Insurance policy wording. Cover for certain activities may require purchase of additional cover, such as Track days.

What is the best motorcycle travel insurance?

There is no such thing as ‘the best travel insurance’ as each individual and their trip or holiday will have different requirements. The only travel insurance that can be considered the best for you is a policy that best fits your unique needs. Motorcycle Voyager Travel Insurance consists of 2 levels of cover and various optional extras to meet a range of budgets and requirements.

Does the insurance policy include repatriation?

Yes, Motorcycle Voyager Travel Insurance includes cover for repatriation, if medically necessary, as standard.

Please note the following…

Whilst the actual medical care you receive is in the hands of the local doctors treating you, we can obtain the medical information we need from them to establish what is wrong, as well as their treatment and discharge plans. We can support you in the event you are admitted to a facility that may not be suitable for your clinical needs or where there are concerns over practice.

We will then advise on, and can put in place, suitable repatriation plans to get you home as soon as it is medically safe to do so. We will liaise with the treating doctor to get a fit to fly certificate when needed, and with aero-medical experts who will advise on both the timing and method of repatriation that is best suited to your individual needs of your recovery.

What CC motorbikes are covered?

Motorcycle Voyager Travel Insurance can provide cover for any size of motorcycle, providing you hold the appropriate licence.

How long can my motorcycle touring trip be covered for?

Single trips can be covered for up to a maximum of 365 days in duration and annual multi-trips can be up to a maximum of 31 days for any one trip but can cover multiple trips throughout the 12 months of cover on your policy.

Am I covered for Track Days?

Cover for track days can be added to you Motorcycle Voyager Travel Insurance policy by selecting the track day option or adding activity pack 4 to your policy when getting a quote and paying the appropriate additional premium.

Am I covered if my Motorbike breaks down?

Yes, providing it is within the terms of the policy, you are covered for the cost of a replacement vehicle or second-class rail cover as well as accommodation costs if your motorbike breaks down and you are unable to use it for over 8 hours. There is further cover available for a replacement vehicle or second-class rail travel and accommodation if your motorbike is unable to repaired before your return home.

There is also cover available for the cost of hiring a vehicle or second-class rail travel to collect your motorbike if it was not able to be repaired before your return home.

Please note however, that there is no cover for the cost of repairing your motorbike following a breakdown. This is a travel insurance policy for motorcycle touring holidays and not a breakdown cover type insurance policy.

Am I covered if I hire a motorbike to do a tour?

Yes, Motorcycle Voyager provides cover for any size of bike if riding your own motorbike or hiring a motorbike, providing you hold the appropriate license.

Are my leathers and helmet covered if they are damaged while on holiday?

Yes, unlike most standard travel insurance policies, Motorcycle Voyager Travel Insurance provides cover for leathers and protective equipment, boots, helmet, gloves, tail pack and/or tank bags.

What countries am I covered to do a motorcycle tour in?

Motorcycle Voyager provides cover for countries in Europe and Worldwide.
